Burgundy wines
To understand Burgundy’s fine wines requires patience and method. So, it comes as no surprise that monks are responsible for building up this exceptional terroir’s reputation. Burgundy Grands Crus have become some of the world’s most sought-after fine wines.
Supple and bewitching bodies, whispered silky tannins, Burgundy Grands Crus embody the most poetic and elegant expression of a fine wine. Divided in micro-plots taking advantage of microclimates, Grands Crus benefit from the soil’s distinctive matter: presence of chalk. It is on these legendary lands that the 2 flagship grape varieties grow: Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (along with Gamay in Beaujolais).
There are 33 Grands Crus:
Romanée, Romanée-Conti, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Richebourg, la Tâche, la Grande-Rue, Corton, Clos-des-Lambrays, Clos-de-Tart, Bonnes-Mares, Musigny, Clos-de-Vougeot, Échezeaux, Grands-Échezeaux, Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin, Mazoyères-Chambertin, Griotte-Chambertin, Ruchottes-Chambertin, Chapelle-Chambertin, Chambertin-Clos-de-Bèze, Latricières-Chambertin, Mazis-Chambertin, Clos-Saint-Denis, Clos-de-la-Roche (red wines).
Corton-Charlemagne, Charlemagne, Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, Briots-Bâtards-Montrachet and Chablis Grand Cru (white wines).
