Languedoc Roussillon wines
With more than 230,000 hectares of vine, Languedoc Roussillon is the biggest wine growing region in France and one of the largest in the world. It spans the Mediterranean coast from Catalonia (bordering Spain) to the region of Provence.
This large scale might’ve been attached to the idea of mass production, rich in alcohol, which was the case before a reform in the early 1900’s. Ever since then, Languedoc wines are constantly improving in quality with the region’s size constituting its true wealth:
Terrasses du Larzac, Corbières AOC, Minervois La Livinière AOC, La Clape, Banyuls, Saint-Chinian AOC- There are many terroirs with their own richness and touch.
Some of the most sought-after fine wines in the world originate from Languedoc which help raise the overall reputation of the region:
Domaine de la Grange des Pères, Domaine Peyre Rose, Château L’Hospitalet, Mas Jullien, Domaine du Clos des Fées, Château Puech Haut, Roc d’Anglade…
