Vega Sicilia
Vega Sicilia, Spain's "First Growth" and most esteemed wine estate, is located in Ribera del Duero and covers around 1000 hectares. It was founded in 1864 by Don Eloy Lecanda y Chaves, who arrived from Bordeaux with precious cuttings of local grapes and planted them together with Spain's prized signature grape Tinto Fino in the dry Ribera soils.
Vega Sicilia's wines are recognized worldwide as some of the finest and most valued red wines on the market. Recognized at the 1929 World’s Fair in Barcelona, the estate was subsequently purchased by the esteemed Alvarez family.
The Vega Sicilia range includes 3 fine wine’s Unico, Valbuena 5° and Vega Sicilia Unico Reserva Especial. Each fine wine is blended using a special combination of Tempranillo, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties. The estate’s Gran Reserva is aged for at least 10-15 years before release.
The finest vintages of Vega Sicillia include rarities like 1942 and 1948. The 1962, 1964, 1966, 1968, 1970 and 1975 Unicos are also highly prized.
