Château Rayas
Chateau Rayas’ story began in the late 19th century when Albert Reynaud purchased the Chateau shortly after he became blind and had to change profession. His son, later inherited the property and decided to invest in two other properties for his two sons; Chateau des Tours and Chateau de Fonsalette.
Today, the family’s properties are managed by Emmanuel Reynaud, who inherited Chateau des Tours from his father along with Chateau Fonsalette and Chateau Rayas from his uncle. Little is known about the Domaine, inspiring a sense of mystery and elevating it to icon status of the Rhone winegrowing region.
Some of the most exceptional wines from the Rhone Valley come from these domains covering three incredible appellations; Châteauneuf du Pape, Côtes du Rhône, Vacqueyras and Côtes du Rhône Village.
Its wines have gained notable praise and reviews from some of the biggest names in the wine industry such as Robert Parker, who described the 1990 Rayas as perhaps the most prized wine in his personal collection.
The best Chateau Rayas vintages include: 1945, 1949, 1955, 1961, which have built the estate’s reputation followed by 1978, 1979, 1989, 1990, 1995.
