Château Mouton Rothschild
Château Mouton Rothschild is arguably the world’s most expensive and highly rated fine wine, and one of the most consistent wines in all of Bordeaux. The estate’s influential Grand Cru notably played a role in the 1971 James Bond film, Diamonds Are Forever.
Originally awarded Second Growth status in the 1855 Classification, Baron Philippe de Rothschild was intent on seeing his prized estate enjoy a top position. He achieved his wish in 1973 when Chateau Mouton Rothschild was proudly awarded First Growth status.
Mouton Rothschild’s fine-wine labels are designed by some of the world's greatest artists including Salvador Dalí, Francis Bacon, Picasso and Miró.
The estate has a famed Museum of Wine in Art, exhibiting exceptionally rare treasures from the King of Naples.
The picturesque vineyard, situated on the “Mouton plateau,” enjoys a perfect southern exposure. It’s most famous neighbor, Lafite Rothschild is just due north. The 75-hectares are planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and produce an exceptional fine white wine, Aile d’Argent.
The greatest vintages of Chateau Mouton Rothschild are: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2008, 2006, 2005, 2003, 2000, 1996, 1995, 1986, 1985, 1982, 1961, 1959, 1955, 1953, 1949, 1948, 1945, 1929, 1928 and 1900.
