Ribera Del Duero
North of Madrid, the famed Ribera De Duero is one of Spain’s most dynamic wine regions producing extremely well-aging fine wines.
Viticulture arrived in the notable Ribera del Duero wine-growing region with Benedictine monks from Cluny in the twelfth century. The prestigious designation of Ribera del Duero was granted July 21,1982.
With a hot and dry climate and largely limestone soils, the Tempranillo grape reaches renowned heights in this acclaimed wine-growing region. Famous for high-quality red wines, Ribera Del Duero’s wine growing success has ignited world interest in Spanish fine wines.
The legendary Vega Sicillia is the dominant wine producer of the region, producing luxury fine-wines, including the famous Vega Sicillia Unico and a high-ranking second fine-wine; Vega Sicillia Valbuena. The prestigious Alejandro Fernández’s Pesquera, composed entirely of Tempranillo grapes, has also earned international reputation. Other fine wine producers include Condado de Haza, Bodegas Mauro, Viña Pedrosa, and Bodegas Téofilo Reyes.
