M. Chapoutier
Chapoutier is one of the oldest names in the Rhône valley, owning close to 25% of the entire appellation. The company produces some the most diverse and impressive wines found in France.
Chapoutier's wine bottles distinctively include Braille writing on all labels, as a tribute to the famed blind singer Gilbert Montagné, a dear friend of Michel Chapoutier. Historically founded in 1808 by the Calvet family, the winery has remained with the Chapoutier family since 1855.
With a preference for single-variety wines, the parcel selections are some of the most celebrated and rare wines in the entire Rhône Valley.
Chapoutier’s finest white wines, Fac&Spera, are produced from the Côte-Rôtie, Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Saint-Joseph, Cornas, and Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine growing regions. The famed and collectible Chapoutier Hermitage fine wines come from specific plots including Le Pavillon, Le Meal, L’Ermite and most recently, Les Greffieux.
Impressively, all vineyards are run on biodynamic principles. Chapoutier’s fine wines are characteristically bottled unfiltered. The winery’s Hermitage Vin de Paille is one of the best sweet wines produced in the Rhône Valley.
The unforgettable vintages of Chapoutier Hermitage are: 2017, 2016, 2015, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2005, 2003, 2001, 1991, 1998, 1995, 1991, 1990 and 1989.
