Château Margaux
The legendary Château Margaux, once known as La Mothe de Margaux; a 12th century fortified castle, was one of only four wines to achieve the prestigious 1st Cru status in the Bordeaux Classification of 1855. Some of the world’s most luxurious, prestigious and expensive red wines are produced by this famous vineyard.
Extending on 262 hectares, Château Margaux produces an outstanding second fine wine; Pavillon Rouge and a distinguished third fine wine; Margaux de Château Margaux.
Château Margaux’s most exceptional growth’s or millésimes are from the years 1961, 1982 and 2005. The years 1929 and 1990 are reputed as the most illustrious and rarest of vintage millennium growths of the vineyard’s winemaking history.
