The history of Latour dates back to the 14th century. After a period of English ownership in the form of the Pearson Group (owners of the Financial Times, and Harvey’s of Bristol) the property passed to French billionaire industrialist François Pinault in 1933, whose empire includes Yves St. Laurent, Gucci and Christie’s Auction House (Kering, former PPR)
The pristine vineyards produce three outstanding wines: the Grand Vin,Les Forts de Latour, and finally, Pauillac de Latour. They draw their exceptional qualities from a generous soil of iron-pan planted to Merlot noir and Cabernet Franc.
