Clos de Tart
Clos de Tart is a luxury wine-growing region and Grand Cru vineyard for outstanding red wines in the acclaimed Côte de Nuits sub-region of Burgundy. Covering 7.51 hectares and nestled in the scenic southern part of the Morey-Saint-Denis commune, Clos de Tart borders the prestigious Grand Cru vineyard Bonnes Mares and Clos des Lambrays; Clos referring to a wall-enclosed vineyard.
Clos de Tart was historically sold to the Cistercian nuns of Notre Dame de Tart in 1141, until the French Revolution when the influential Mommessin family acquired it. It gained a prestigious Grand Cru AOC status in 1939.
With an unparalleled chalky terrain and a continental oceanic climate, the choice grape variety for Clos de Tart fine wines is Pinot noir.
