Sena
Chile's first Icon wine, Seña began as a joint venture between Eduardo Chadwick and Robert Mondavi. Their dream was to produce Chile's ultimate and premium red wine. Their efforts paid off, for the third year running Seña received the highest score for a Chilean Bordeaux blend, and a staggering 98 Robert Parker Points, awarded by the Wine Advocate.
The name Seña means ‘signal’, signifying the intention to show the world Chile was capable of producing high-ranking wines from its word-class terroir. Just 40km from the Pacific shores, the location was specifically selected with a wine style in mind that accentuated freshness and finesse.
Sourced from bio-dynamically farmed plots in the Aconcagua wine region, Seña’s exceedingly fine-wines typically blend Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and a small amount of Petit Verdot. The grapes are fermented in temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks and the wine is then matured in small oak barrels (75% new) for 22 months.
Seña (2001) was amongst two Chilean wines to take first and second place in the Berlin Wine Tasting of 2004, where 36 international wine experts judged a blind tasting of icon wines from France, Italy and Chile.
