Robert Parker's Wine Advocate : A true homegrown sleeper, and somewhat underrated and under the radar after 2000's greatness, the 2001 Angelus is on a faster evolutionary path than the 2000, but it's a plush Angelus style , sexy and luscious, with a dense plum/purple color, lots of chocolate, blueberries and blackberries, revealing floral flavors in the intense fragrance, and a lush, voluptuously textured and opulent mouthfeel. This wine seems to have reached its plateau of maturity, where it should stay for at least another 10-15 years. It is a great sleeper of the vintage.
Blend : 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc.
