Bandol
Located near the east coast of Marseille and Cassis in the Provence region, Bandol is regarded as one of the most famous AOC of the region. Benefiting from a coastal climate, due to its proximity to the Mediterranean ocean, Bandol is considered ideal for growing Mourvèdre grapes, which the wines are primarily composed of. The AOC is known for producing a majority of red wine, characterized by flavors of black fruit, vanilla, cinnamon and leather along with rosé wine, characterized by spicy and earthy flavors. A small amount of white wine is also produced, using varietals such as white Clairette, Bourboulenc and white Ugni.
Some of the most famous producers from this AOC include: Domaine Tempier, Domaine de la Bégude, Châteaux La Rouvière, Pibarnon, Pradeaux, Domaine la Tour du Bon and Château Vannières.
